Introduction to Tara Irwin

Tara has a decade of experience providing mental health and addictions therapy. She uses a collaborative approach in addressing a wide range of concerns from adjustment difficulties to severe and complex challenges, such as substance use, suicidal and self-injurious behaviors. She integrates an attachment theory framework and emotion focussed, cognitive behavioral and mindfulness-based therapies to provide care that is individualized and client-centred. She has a warm and friendly approach that helps people to feel safe and secure in sharing personal challenges and she provides a compassionate, respectful, and non-judgmental perspective on complex struggles and coping difficulties.

Tara has experience providing counselling in community mental health programs. She has worked in a holistic residential addictions treatment setting and has taught in the psychology department of the Okanagan College. She holds a Master of Arts Degree in psychology from the University of British Columbia and is registered with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC).
